Written by Joe ConlonUpdated May 28, 2026

At a glance North American Receivable Management Services (NARMS) is a Canadian collection agency. The legal entity is iQor Canada Ltd. (iQor Canada Ltée in French), a federally incorporated Canadian company and the Canadian arm of iQor Holdings Inc.

The same iQor group also operates the consumer-facing Receivable Management Services (RMS) brand. Collection letters and calls in Canada commonly use the NARMS or RMS name.

If you've been contacted by NARMS, RMS or iQor in Canada, it's the same company. Don't confirm any personal details or make a payment until you have written verification of the debt.

Why is North American Receivable Management Services calling me?

If North American Receivable Management Services is calling, a creditor has referred your unpaid account to them for collection.

You'll usually see the name North American Receivable Management Services, Receivable Management Services or RMS on the letter or call display.

The iQor group also runs outsourced call centre operations for major creditors, such as telecoms and utilities. Some calls identify as the original creditor first and only mention the collection agency if you ask.

Don't confirm any personal details or agree to pay until you have written proof of the debt. There's always a chance it's a mistake or someone using the name in a scam.

If you owe the debt, pay it off as soon as possible to avoid it being reported as a collection on your credit report.

Who does North American Receivable Management Services collect for?

North American Receivable Management Services works for large corporate clients across telecommunications, utilities, financial services and retail.

A common reason Canadian consumers receive NARMS letters is an unpaid UPS courier bill, often for brokerage fees or customs duties on a package shipped from outside Canada.

If you don't recognize the creditor name from a NARMS letter or call, pull your credit report from Equifax or TransUnion. It shows which creditor placed the account in collections.

Will North American Receivable Management Services damage my credit score?

To check whether NARMS has already reported a debt against you, pull your credit report from Equifax Canada or TransUnion Canada. The collections section shows which original creditor placed the account with the collection agency.

If nothing shows up, North American Receivable Management Services hasn't reported the debt to the credit bureaus yet. Make sure to verify the debt directly with the original creditor before paying.

Is North American Receivable Management Services legitimate?

Yes. North American Receivable Management Services is the trading name of iQor Canada Ltd., a licensed Canadian collection agency with active licences in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and BC.

What if the debt is old?

Every province has a time limit on how long a collection agency like North American Receivable Management Services (iQor) can sue you for an unpaid debt. In most provinces the limit is 2 years from your last payment or written acknowledgment of the debt. It's 3 years in Quebec and 6 years in the territories, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.

Province / Territory Limitation period
Ontario, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia 2 years
Quebec 3 years
Newfoundland and Labrador, PEI, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon 6 years

Once the limitation period expires, North American Receivable Management Services (iQor) can still sue you, but you can raise the expired limitation period as a complete defence. The defence isn't automatic. You have to file a defence in court and plead the expired limitation period. If you don't, the court will grant default judgment as if the limitation didn't apply.

Making a payment or acknowledging the debt in writing restarts the limitation period, but only if it hasn't already expired.

These limitation periods apply to most consumer debts like credit cards, lines of credit, and personal loans. Different rules may apply to government debts, court judgments, or secured debts like mortgages.

For more information, read our guide about debt statute of limitations.

However, if the debt's on a loan, line of credit, or credit card, send the letter by registered mail under federal law. If North American Receivable Management Services (iQor) is physically based in Ontario, use Ontario's law instead.

FAQs

Yes. North American Receivable Management Services (NARMS) is a trading name of iQor Canada Ltd. The same group operates the customer support brand Receivable Management Services (RMS) at rmscustomersupport.com.

NARMS can't take money from your paycheque directly. To garnish wages, someone has to sue you first, win a court judgment, and then request a garnishment order.

With third-party collectors like NARMS, this is usually the original creditor rather than the agency itself.

You can offer North American Receivable Management Services a lump sum for less than the full amount or propose a monthly payment plan. Get any deal in writing before you pay.

A settlement shows as "settled" rather than "paid in full" on your credit report, but it clears the account.

Ignoring the debt doesn't make it disappear. NARMS can keep contacting you or may recommend that the creditor take legal action.

If a court issues a judgment against you, the creditor can garnish your wages or freeze your bank account.

Yes. If you don't respond to collection attempts, the creditor can instruct North American Receivable Management Services to recommend legal action. With a judgment, the creditor can garnish your wages or freeze your bank account.
